WOMEN.WORK.50PLUS

Event on the occasion of International Women's Day 2026

On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Freedom Party Educational Institute and the Freedom Party Parliamentary Club hosted a high-profile event at the Palais Epstein on 5 March 2026.
The focus was on the questions: How can we ensure that women – especially the 50+ generation – can age with dignity, and what does a policy that meets people's actual needs look like?
A central theme of the evening was the social recognition of family work. After introductory remarks by National Council President Dr Walter Rosenkranz, Provincial Councillor Mag. Susanne Rosenkranz spoke clearly on this issue: "Women with children have a full-time job! Being a housewife and mother is a profession." FPÖ women's spokesperson NAbg. Rosa Ecker, MBA, emphasised that women do great things. Politics should not focus solely on working women, but must also explicitly take mothers into account.
The subsequent panel discussion focused on securing pensions. FPÖ spokesperson for senior citizens, MP Andrea-Michaela Schartel, said that the goal must be for every woman to be able to live independently on her pension in old age. In addition to securing the older generation, the future of young women was also discussed.
